Nicole Close is a Halifax-based Assistant Director and one of the leading production professionals in the Nova Scotia film industry. Nicole began making her own films as a way to process and heal after being diagnoses with breast cancer. Her debut film Projections (2021) was a brave experimental short film that explored her relationship with her body, before and after treatment and her journey towards acceptance. Nicole’s latest completed work, Three Little Words (2024) is a short documentary that explores the impact of words, water, community and cancer. Three Little Words will screen Spring 2025.
Nicole was a finalist in the CBC Pitch This!. She will pitched her short film, Saltwater Cure live at Women in Film and Television Atlantic (WIFT-AT) Making Waves 2025 conference. Saltwater Cure is a short film about surfing, cancer and radical acceptance.
